オバマ次期米大統領と障害者施策

次期アメリカ大統領に、バラク・オバマ氏が選出された。
初めての黒人大統領ということで、抑圧されてきた黒人の期待はひときわ大きい。

オバマ氏に期待する障害者も多いだろう。
オバマ氏を指示する障害者のサイトを見ると、オバマ氏とバイデン氏の障害者施策が紹介されていた。

この中で、オバマ氏は障害者権利条約に政府が署名し、上院が批准することで、障害者問題でも世界をリードするとしていることに注目したい。
ブッシュ大統領とアメリカ政府は国連のアドホック委員会でも非常に消極的な態度に終始し、難聴者の権利について懸命にロビー活動を共にしたアメリカ難聴者協会出身の国際難聴者連盟マルシア・デューガン理事長をして、嘆かしめたくらいだ。

選挙結果を報じるテレビ画面のオバマ氏の「イエス・ウィ・キャン」と「チェンジ」が人工内耳でよく聞こえた。

オバマ氏は、地域の「コミュニティ・オーガナイザー」の活動を経験したという。
アメリカの「コミュニティ・オーガナイザー」というのはどんな仕事をするのか、どういう組織に所属して、どこと契約して行うのか興味がある。

四つの施策の教育、差別の撤廃、就労に次いで、４番目は、コミュニティベースの（地域の中で）自立した生活の支援だ。
